    Working Girls
The crowd that had packed the bar earlier in the evening to cheer their beloved White Sox was starting to thin out now that the ChiSox had emerged victorious against the hated Indians of Cleavland, but the bar was still humming with activity. An explosion of noise had rocked the bar as the right fielder caught the pop fly ball and secured the third Out to win the game for the Sox, and patrons were still chattering amongst themselves as the announcers on tv pontificated about the performance of both teams to pass the time before the west coast games came on the air.

Izzy checked her tables with a bounce in her step, the good mood of the crowd was infectious and she knew with all the activity tonight her tips would be well into the triple digits. She'd worked the bar scene back in college to help pay the bills, and had fallen right back into the routine here in Chicago when she'd found herself destitute with only the skills in her head and the clothes on her back. This bar wasn't that different from the one she'd worked back in Atlanta, only there it had been the Falcons and Braves that the fans held close to their hearts instead of Da Bears and Da Sox (she'd quickly found that 'Da Cubbies' weren't so popular down on the south side) in these parts.

A new customer was spotted at a table recently vacated by six jocks who'd been very free with their cash, ordering drink after drink. They'd also been very free with their hands, and Izzy had been sorely tempted to cause them to have a little 'accident.' If it weren't for the whole threefold rule she probably would have done it.

At least they'd left a fat tip.

"Be right with you!" She told the other blonde as she carried a tray of drinks to a table at the other end of her section.

Grace was in a much better mood by the time she was ready to get around to looking for something to put her hand in as far as business went, and she called a few old phone numbers she'd had on her the last time she was in the States. She got a couple of 'this number is no longer in service' messages before finally hearing someone pick up on the other end, and she set up a meet at a nearby sports bar, parking herself at a table in the back where she could watch the door. Not that she cared anything about baseball, but cheering along with the crowd while tending to her beer was good protective coloring.

The vampire picked up her beer, since vodka was never to her taste, wiped foam off of her upper lip. "We're fine, darlin', thanks for the fine service and the conversation. Nice to meet a girl from the old neighborhood, so to speak." She'd have to remember to leave a nice tip before she rolled out of here. Waitresses could be reliable if you were looking for another customer sometimes, it paid to keep them happy.

"Here, a little somethin' extra." Another ten was extracted from the billfold, held out to the human. "Workin' girls got to stick together."

    Striking a Bargain
Serving your country, blah, blah, blah. Protecting the homeland, blah, blah, blah. Bullshit, the lot of it. Leah scratched the back of her neck as she moved through the chow line in the cafeteria. She'd heard the sales pitch and didn't believe a word of it, but she was stuck for now.

If she backed out of being a part of their little circus then she'd be starving again back in that holding cell before she knew it. Maybe at some point she could get out of it, but it didn't look like it would happen anytime soon.

So for now she played good little soldier girl while trying to do as little as possible.

The hybrid plopped a piece of strawberry pie on her tray, one that already contained a chicken salad wrap and a diet soda, and looked around for a familiar face to sit with...and that's when she spotted Grace.
